Poqit was formed in early 2000 by Richard Taylor to satisfy the
demand for quality WAP content. An HTML-to-WML convertor, using XML as
the middle tier, was designed and built to demonstrate WAP's ability to
deliver existing internet data to corporate users and consumers. Customers
included Alcatel, and Network Associates.
In mid-2000, wishing for more flexibility on the client side, Poqit started investigating Sun's Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME), with a specific goal of integrating with server-side applications.
Our aim is to accelerate the uptake of J2ME and WAP by kickstarting companies to gain appropriate technology and applications for their mobile needs.
